Natural throat gargle remedy.

By Amy Crawford

Natural sore throat gargle recipe.

If there's ever a sign that I'm doing too much, my throat is the first to tell me. At first it's the feeling of a slight tickle, then all too quickly, the white spots appear followed by the razor blades and the dreadful pain that comes from swallowing. Then of course there's the golf balls in my neck. Many of you know the feeling, yes?

Of course there often follows a dose of antibiotics, and might I say - how fortunate we are to have access to modern medicine!

These days I'm armed with natural alternatives as my first call to action, I'll pull out every remedy known to man before I call in the 'big guns'. Over the years this has become a wonderfully empowering journey; the notion that I can often support my health at home before racing to the Dr or the pharmacy.

So it was that I devised my very own natural throat recipe, a concoction of pure essential oils, raw apple cider vinegar and salty water, my first point of call at the slightest hint of razor blades and throughout the recovery journey.

Let's meet the key ingredients.

Raw apple cider vinegar - what's not to love about this vinegar, with it's antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Sea salt. Salt cleanses the area, helps prevent bacteria from growing and relieves inflammation. At the very least this should be our first point of call during such testing times!

Pure essential oils. Of course it's pertinent we select 100% pure essential oils. Always check the ingredients on the back of your bottle and never presume that if the bottle says 'pure essential oil' it actually is. Many contain synthetic fillers and other nasties.

My oil brand of choice is doTERRA, namely for its potency and purity and it's rigorous third party testing reassuring me that I am getting exactly what I'm paying for.

On Guard blend. This is one of doTERRA's most popular ready made blends, protecting against environmental and seasonal threats.

Oregano oil. This is one of the most powerful essential oils available and has been used throughout history for its cleansing properties. He's the guy I turn to at the first sign of a health glitch.

Tea Tree Oil. This popular oil is widely used in shampoos, cleaning products, deodorants and toothpaste because of it's cleansing properties.

Lemon Oil. Lemon is a cleansing and purifying oil that is said to soothe the razor feelings whilst lifting your energy.

Sore Throat Gargle Recipe.

1 small glass of warm water
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 cap full of raw apple cider vinegar
1 drop each of lemon, On Guard, Oregano and Tea Tree Oils

Combine all the ingredients in a glass. Gargle at the first sign of discomfort (do not swallow!) and for as long as necessary. At it's worst I try and gargle every 1-1.5 hours during the day.

Here's to a razor blade free throat, soonest!
