Sleep soundly with my favourite DIY essential oil blend.

My absolute number one priority for managing my mental and physical health is sleep; out of necessity I've become super strict about it. Under 7 hours and I'm a rabbit in headlights; two to three nights of poor sleep in a row and I'm feeling anxious, easily overwhelmed, reactive and more than likely getting a sore throat. In bed by 10pm, sleep by 10.30 is my 'thang'.
Today I want to share one of my favourite essential oil blends with you. To support a more sound and restful sleep I apply this beautiful concoction, or a version of, every night before bed. Rolling it onto my wrists, behind my neck or on the soles of my feet it brings about a calming of my nervous system, a gentle sense that everything is settling within. Sometimes it leaves me feeling like I've been slightly doped (win!).
This essential oil blend will bring about feelings of calmness, support better sleep, help balance the nervous system, assist with mood management and promote feelings of tranquility. It could be used during the day if you felt super heightened and anxious however know that it can be more sleep promoting for some than others. Looking to fall asleep at your desk? All you need is a 10ml roller bottle, some fractionated coconut oil (or another pure carrier oil) and pure therapeutic grade essential oils and you're good to go. Do know that cheap, low grade oils will not have the desired effect. Many essential oil brands on the market are not pure - always read the label and make sure they contain no synthetic ingredients before you put them anywhere near your skin.

Teenage - Adult blend:
5 drops Lavender
3 drops Vetiver
3 drops Frankincense
3 drops Clary Sage (avoid during pregnancy)
3 drops Roman Chamomile
Add all oils to a 10ml roller bottle and top with fractionated coconut oil. Shake well and apply prior to bed on the wrists, behind the neck or on the soles of the feet.
For children 2 years plus I would reduce the above to 2 drops of lavender and 1 drop each of Frankincense, Vetiver and Roman Chamomile. For babies I would add only 1 drop of lavender to the 10ml roller bottle.
