Carrot juice recipe

So your immune system is feeling the pinch and you've got all the common cold symptoms to boot - a runny and sore nose (from tissue overuse), an annoyingly persistent cough, chest congestion, a little fevery, perhaps some chills, low energy, headachy.. you get my drift.

Rather than making a dash for the closest pharmacy, we here at THI dash to the kitchen and fight any sign of infection as best we know how - with the glorious powers of healing nature. On that note, today we welcome a carrot juice recipe to help fight the common cold battle.

Clearly you want a strong immune system all year round so you needn't save today's recipe just for coldy occasions. In fact, as winter approaches it'd be a good idea to start ramping this one up. Fresh from the pages of our eBook A Nourishing Morning, this juice is a powerhouse of goodness. Carrots contain loads of beta-carotene, a powerful phytonutrient that serves to boost your immune system’s production of infection fighting cells. Combine this with turmeric and ginger and you have excellent health in a glass.

Serves 2

You will need:
5 carrots, chopped
1 apple, quartered
1 lemon, quartered
1 inch piece turmeric
1 inch piece ginger

Juice all ingredients and pour into two glasses. Serve immediately.

Coming up next we're sharing our top ten ways to cure a common cold, naturally (of course). Oh and if you've got any fancy cold-combatting juice combos you'd be happy to share, please do so below!
